Vampires are a species of immortals whose origins date back several thousands of years. Once, three persons born into noble families began to search for a cure for death. What they found was an ancient virus that killed their bodies while somehow keeping them alive. They found the virus granted immortality, superhuman physical abilities, enhanced resilience, and healing, but causing a severe weakness to ultraviolet radiation and a thirst for blood. The three new vampires set out to conquer the world and thus vampires were born.
Being ancient creatures, they take turns being awake. While the other two sleep, one sits on the throne. Simply called Elders, they are the original and most powerful of all vampires. With the help of the vampire council that consists of 13 members, one from each clan, they rule over the vampire world, making and enforcing their laws and codes.

Vampires possess superhuman physical power, including strength, speed, agility, reflexes, endurance, durability, glamouring, heightened senses, blood telepathy and accelerated healing. Though vampires are immortal beings, they can be killed by sunlight, staking, and beheading, though, as their powers grow with age, it becomes more difficult to kill a vampire the older they are.
Though very rare, vampires can reproduce with each other. There pure blood vampires are more powerful and respected those made. A vampire can be made by being bitten and having drunk the blood of another vampire. Fae blood is like a drug, but does not grant additional abilities. Vampires cannot enter the home of a mortal without permission, obviously with exceptions. Once invited, they must be uninvited to keep them from returning. They need to feed or simply, they will die. Other weaknesses include wood, an aversion to garlic, necromancy, silver, and drinking the blood of the dead.
